How I spent my Valentine's Day....

I realize that as I get ~~more married and older~~ more mature, certain holidays do not have the biggest hoopla effect they use to. In high school, to get a rose delivered to me was a huge deal. I would make sure all of my girl and guy friends sent me one and if I was dating someone at that time, they would have to as well. In college, I was mostly single on Valentine's day and if I was in a relationship I always made it into this huge deal.

Now that I am married, and this is our second Vday together, we were much more lax about the holiday. I still wanted my traditional flowers, sweets, cards and gifts, but our plans were a bit more low key. I at least kept with the spirit and made pink the signature theme throughout the night.

First I went to Soul Cycle for my normal Tuesday spin class

(although I wore pink!)

Then I met Jared at our favorite local Thai place and drank these Lychee mimosa

(staying with pink here)

Then I came home to these gorgeous cymbidium orchids

(pink again!)

And enjoyed these as I watched my favorite DVRed shows

(and the red velvet had a pink candy heart!)

What a perfect night :)

Legends Gone Too Soon....

It is a sad time for music legends these days. A lot of the brightest stars have lost their lives because of bad choices, alcohol, drug abuse and just pure tragedy. I have to give some sort of blog post to show that these three music legends were taken from us just too early.

Michael Jackson

(August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009)

A legend like no other. Songs from him resonate in my head when I think of all different eras of my life. "Billy Jean", "Thriller", and "Scream" just to name a few. When I heard about his death I was actually in LA visiting a friend of mine. He will always be in my heart as the king of pop.

Amy Winehouse

(September 14, 1983 – July 23, 2011)

She did not yet have a chance to come into her prime. Died at the age of 27, she had a checkered past of drug and alcohol abuse. "Back to black" and "rehab" to name a few. She was just another troubled youth took too soon.

Whitney Houston

(August 9, 1963 – February 11, 2012)

The most recent tragedy. She was truly an idol. I can remember dancing on my daddy's feet to "I want to dance with somebody" back in the 80's, graduating elementary to school in the 90's to "One moment in time" and dancing around my room to "Its not right, but its okay" and her platinum double sided album remixes during my teen and early adult years. She was an amazing singer and performer and I am most saddened by the loss of her at age 48.

I am not the biggest football fan. However, I have always loved Superbowl. Who doesn't love a chance to host a party, eat wings and make a cake into the shape of a football? Most importantly, I love to pick my favorite commercial. I had two this year....

Who doesn't love a commercial about LED lights so bright they vaporize a vampire party? Then in the end he dusts himself, classic!

The M&Ms commercial

I had heard they were bringing back classic brown. But when girl M&M said she was not naked and the boy M&M stripped off his color to brown and sang I'm sexy and you know it, I was dying! Hysterical :)

Good Job you guys! I applaud your commercials this year although they were sans pug! (Remember the pug Doritos commercial last year? Amazing!)

Leap List

After ~~watching the bachelor~~ some soul searching, I have decided to create a "Leap List". Much akin to a bucket list, the leap list is something you want to complete before you are 50, rather than before you kick the "bucket" (get it!) Here is what I came up with.

1. Travel to almost all 7 continents

I've been to N.Amer, S.Amer, Asia and Europe, so all I need now is Australia and Africa (I can skip Antarctica, apparently its not my thing)

2. Be a tourist in NYC

I still need to see the Statue of Liberty, walk the Brooklyn Bridge, go to the opera, and head over to the Central Park Zoo

3. Have a baby

Or two or three and who knows, this may be the year for that :)

4. Dye my hair dark again

I've been blonde since I was 19 and I'm sure my hubby would love that

5. Buy a house

I can't live in an apartment forever, can I?

6. Complete one Man Vs Food eating challenge

I am thinking I could nail the oysters one

7. Travel to all of my leap list vacay destinations

I still need to hit Hawaii, New Orleans, Greece, a few more islands and let's throw in Thailand, Turkey and Morocco for good measure

8. Go to a gun range

Maybe this year for Hub's birthday

9. Complete one of my writing adventures

Before I am 50 seems reasonable, right?

10. Bake a Red Velvet cake with homemade cream cheese icing

It is truly winter here in New York. January - March are the coldest months here and I am right smack in the middle. The other morning walking to the subway at 6:30am it was 13 degrees! I was frozen. Good thing I was bundled up like a snowbunny!

How to stay cute and fashionable (and mostly warm) is tricky. Here are some key items that have kept me toasty for this long winter to come!

Ugg Tall Boots

By far the most clutch item I have. I wear these things out by spring time!

Karbon Winter Coat

I bought this 4 years ago for skiing and it is by far the warmest coat I own. The fur hood comes in handy quite often!

Super warm and is good for layering

YUM. These are cheap and warm, I love wearing them to bed and kicking them off in the middle of the night

Burberry Cashmere Scarf

I have had this thing for years. It is the warmest and most plush thing I own. Burberry is classic and never goes out of style!

May look dorky, but it keeps me super warm around my head and ears! All I need is a face mask and we are in business :)

It's a New Year....

In years past, I have had lists of resolutions a mile long. Things that I wish I could change, ways I would like to improve and more or less a means to an end. This year however, as I am trying to contemplate ways I would like to make 2012 the best it can be, I am at a loss. I have only come down to three things I hope to accomplish in 2012 and less of a resolution and more of a credo that I hope to fulfill.

1. Drama Free Living

Being a girl, I have always loved the drama. Whether it be at work, at home, in love or in friendship, I would be drawn to it like sunlight. This year I have learned that maybe instead of magnetizing towards it, I am going to divide from it.

2. Love Thyself

I may not be wedding skinny any more, but I am not as bad as I think. Sure, I have my problem areas and I will promise to keep up my new obsession in Soul Cycle and stay away from the white devils and my sweet tooth (unless its an occasion), but really I plan to love myself for who I am

3. Keep Growing

Everyday I feel like I have grown oceans from who I was the year before the last. I want to continue to grow and make myself better. I know that this year a lot of new things may happen and I want to make sure to embrace my life and keep moving.

I have been slacking big time on keeping in shape and eating healthy. I think I owe that to the trifecta of overeating in our midst (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Winter). I am going away with my in-laws for Christmas this year somewhere warm and sunny and I need to get back into it!

So even though I go to Soul Cycle (Spinning with a kick!) twice a week. That is not enough. I need to change my eating habits. Creamy soups, pizza pies and desserts need to go.

Hope everyone is having a Happy Pug-O-Ween. We didn't decide to dress up this year, but hopefully next year I can paint my belly like a pumpkin :)

Thundy's Halloween costume debacle could be summed up by Goldilocks and the three bears. The first, a frog prince was too big, the second a Little lion cub was too small and the third, an elephant was just right!

Tis The Holiday Season & Giveaway!

When the weather starts to get colder, I start to fast forward the year. Soon it will be Halloween, then Thanksgiving and before we know it Christmas/Hannukah and New Years will be at our doors.

One of the best things about the holidays is picking out a card to send to my loved ones. For the past few years I have been using Shutterfly to capture these moments.

As the years have gone on, it is more important now than ever to have a photo card to capture this holiday season. One year we used just Thunder in reindeer ears, wishing everyone "Happy Holidays from Thund-eer" and another was a collage of the two of us. This year, now that we are married, we hope to bring the same festive photo and creativity to our holiday card. We are hoping by next holiday season we will have a little addition to feature in our cards, and I cannot be more excited to document that and share with all of our nearest and dearest.

After the sale of my wedding gown, I had started contemplating what other items and tokens from my wedding I wanted to keep.

I got these amazing pair of white and crystal Manolo Blahnik's to wear with my Vera. I have been considering whether or not to dye them black so I can enjoy them. (instead of them sitting in a box, never to be worn again)

So the question is - to dye or not to dye?

Blogger's Block...

I preface this post by stating the obvious - I truly love my blog.

But, I have been thinking this for a while. I need to make a few changes. I may go on a blogging hiatus for a bit. I will still read my dailies and comment when it makes me smile, but I will not be posting for a while.

I just don't feel like lately, I have been putting my all into my posts. They seem so un-"doll-like" and just a bit lackluster. I also feel like my fans and comments have been dwindling, which is a sure tell-tale sign that I have less readers and not as much traffic as I once had.

I will post when something really happens to me, but until then, please do leave a comment on this post if you want me to stay and if my posts make you happy, the way you have all mad me happy over the past few years!

I've never been one for trends. I read Glamour religiously, scour blogs daily, and shop weekly, but still, I don't follow the trends. I know what they are however. I am aware of ankle booties and boyfriend jeans, neon on nails moving into darker, richer colors, etc.

But still, I am classic. I am seven jeans with Tory Burch boots, Jimmy Choo pumps and basic black sweaters, Nike free sneakers with matching pants and sports bras, Burberry coats and matching scarves and various pops of color every now and then.

Lately, I have been noticing small details that I have found to be my next new favorite trends.

Nightmares....

I've always been the worst sleeper. I need white noise, special high decibel ear plugs, my favorite pillow, cherry melatonin and sometimes my favorite white lamb to get to slumber.

Jared does his share of traveling for work, and Thundy goes to the doggy spa because I have to get up soooo early for work when he travels more than one night - so last night was no different than any other.

but, My apartment is HAUNTED....

I swear. I heard noises coming through the walls like someone was watching TV in my living room, I could hear creaks in the ceiling and the floors, I thought someone was on our balcony. I must have gotten up 5 times after I shut the TV off to check the porch, the kitchen, the living room, lock and re lock the front door, ask "is anybody here?" and get back into bed with lamb in tow.

Anxious ridden, I am not sure how I fell asleep.

Just a little update as to how my September is going so far....

Spain was truly amazing. We spent 1.5 days in Madrid, which was rustic, historical and beautiful. We then flew over to Barcelona for the next 5, which was a hustling and bustling city - very comparable to New York City. We dined on tapas, frequented gelato stores, took over 300 photos, saw the sights and relaxed by our gorgeous pool which overlooked the ocean. This was the best birthday gift I have ever gotten, thank you hunnie!

Goodbye to my 20's....

Dear 20's,

Today, on my 30th birthday, I wanted to wish you a proper farewell. We have had 10 long years together and I wanted to pay tribute to them. I will miss year 20 when I learned that puppy love is not always forever. Year 21 taught me that drinking legally can lead to some wild crazy nights and drinking on top of bars. Year 22 taught me about the ups and downs of a long distance relationship. Year 23 taught me that the real world was waiting and so was working. By 24, I learned that I had not yet grown out of my bad boy stage. Year 25, a quarter of a century old, I learned that there was so much more I wanted from my life and I was going to take it. By 26, I moved out of my parent's house and into Manhattan and tried the roommate thing one more time. By 27, I had a career and I was ready to find someone I could marry. By 28, he proposed to me, we moved in together and my whole life changed. By 29, I got married, honeymooned, changed jobs, shed old friendships, gained new ones and strengthened old ones and grew miles from where I started.

So although you have brought me endless smiles, tears, heartache, laughter, strength, courage, development and anxiety, I bid you farewell 20's.

Overdue Vacation Ahead...

Jared & I leave for Spain today to celebrate an early 30th birthday gift to me!

We look forward to spending our days in Madrid and Barcelona, snapping away touristy shots, eating tapas on every street corner, dancing to flamenco music, cheering on FC Barcelona at the soccer game and practicing my rusty high school Spanish skills!

The Traveling Wedding Dress...

It's hard to believe that Jared & I are almost at our 1 year anniversary. It seems like only yesterday I was walking down the aisle, tripping in my train and kissing the man I love. I look back at the photos often and remember dancing in my gorgeous Vera Wang gown with my sparkly Manolo's, being with all my loved family and friends.

Shortly after my wedding, I was contacted by someone who saw my dress on my blog and wanted to buy it for her own very special day. Do you remember this?

A lovely and gorgeous Swiss girl ended up buying my gown and making it her own. She was nice enough to share the photos with me today and I want to share them with you! She also has since then sold it to another bride in England, who will cherish it as much as we did.

She looked truly gorgeous! She also used her own belt and made it her own (as every bride should!) This is truly inspirational that my happiness spread to hers and will keep on going.

Happy almost 1 year anniversary hunnie! You still make me smile....

What To Read?

Our trip to Spain is getting closer and I am started to shop and find books to bring along for the trip.

Let me preface this by telling you my criteria. I like chic lit, fun, and beachy reads. I enjoy Jennifer Weiner, Twilight, Devil Wears Prada, Lauren Conrad and other girls authors of the such! Too serious or hard to dive right in, is not for me. Although I have read and loved my occasional serious book. Jodi Picoult, The Lovely Bones, and I am looking to read "A Stolen Life" - the memoir of Jaycee Lee Dugard's kidnapping.

With that being said...

To climb or not to climb...

Hubby's birthday is today!

In lieu of Hubby's birthdays, every year the gift giving options get harder to decide. The first year I took him paint balling with friends, the second to Walt Disney World and Universal Studios and this year I needed something fresh.

Yesterday, we went to the indoor rock climbing wall at Chelsea Piers in NYC. We really had a blast. I have to say, after I got over my fear of being stuck up on the 40 foot wall and fireman having to pry me off, not understanding that to repel would be my only viable way down, I loved it. By my third climb, I finally reached the top and repelled all the way down with ease.

My NYC Tourist Bucket List....

Living in one of the greatest cities in the world, I have started to think about all of the places I have NOT seen. Eventually, hubby and I will move into the suburbs and forgo our fab Manhattan life. So before we go, I wanted to make sure I crossed everything off that I wanted to see in NYC.

Now granted, I have seen my share of tourisita things...

I have seen most museums, the MET, MOMA, the Guggenheim, the Museum of Natural History, and checked out the Bodies Exhibit. I have been to the Planetarium, the Bronx Zoo and the Botanical Gardens. I have cheered on New York teams at Madison Square Garden, Yankee Stadium (new and old) and Shea. I have seen many Broadway and off Broadway shows. I have rocked out to concerts on Randall's Island, Jones Beach, and small theaters showcasing my faves. I have visited the breathtaking Top of the Rock, oohed and ahhed at the tree in Rockefeller center at Christmas time and faced the crowds in China Town, Little Italy and Times Square. I have shopped in Bendel's, Bergdorf's, Saks, Bloomies and visited FAO Schwartz and Dylan's Candy Bar, many a times. I have run through Central Park, been to Madison Square Park, Gramercy Park, South Street Seaport and run along the East Side river.

I cant still help to think that there are still things on my NYC tourist Bucket List that I have yet to complete.

Whenever I walk the streets of Manhattan or ride the subway through the hustle and bustle of a typical work day, I start to collect reasons why I heart this city and why those reasons outweigh the bad.

It smells like New York. The mere aroma of fresh roasted nuts on the street corner of my subway stop. They smell like vanilla scented candles and warm winter nights all rolled into one. The smell of the Christmas tree in Rockefeller center, the odor of fresh grown flowers on every bodega corner.

Dessert Heaven. Every time a new fro-yo place or cupcake bakery opens up. I'm drooling just thinking about all of my options. Where else can you get Pinkberry, 16 Handles, Rice to Riches, Popbar, Crumbs, Sprinkles and Magnolia Bakery all in a 5 block radius?

The shopping options alone. Not only am I in the middle of Mecca, Saks, Bloomies, Bergdorf's, Barney's, Bendel's, but I am never too far from a trendy boutique. Pookie & Sebastian, Taroo and a few others are just right outside my door step.

Mass transit. Although mostly crowded, sometimes smelly, filled with rude and obnoxious NYers, I find it the most reliable, quickest and most widely available way to get around. I can hop on the 6 train and be in the Upper East and Soho all within 10 minutes.

Take out heaven. Anything and everything can be delivered to your door. Don't want to go grocery shopping? Call Fresh Direct. Don't want to venture out in the snow for take out, call our for Thai, Italian, Greek, Mexican, or even a late night burger and fries. One thing I will never get tired of is stacking new take out menus from new neighborhoods in our kitchen drawer.

Dogs rule this town. Puppy parks are not sparing, they are everywhere. There are doggie salons, spas, daycare and doggie gyms. Specialized treats, tiny outfits, you name it they have it. Thunder has the rightive way in this town and I smile every time I see a fellow pug with a curly tail on the street.

These are few and far between reasons why I heart my city.

I feel like my life lately has been a world wind of things. Change has become the constant in my life. All for the good and the possibility of a stronger future! Here is what has been going on with me as of lately...

We are moving next Friday into our apartment. We still need to have our customary interview with the board, pack everything in the apartment, buy new appliances and furniture, schedule the mover, the freight for the day, and a million other little things to get the new place ready
We just booked my 30th birthday trip/1 year wedding anniversary trip to Spain. A whole week in Madrid and Barcelona, seeing the sights and enjoying my possible last vacation before things get a bit more serious :)
I accepted a new job offer and I start on July 11th! I have to get everything ready and learn the tricks of the new team and everything that comes with it.
I have started to let myself go after the wedding, so I am thinking about upgrading to a better gym and trying to take it more seriously. And if not, I am considering asking for a spin bike for the new place!

Tsk Tsk Tsk..

That is my reprimanding myself for being a bad blogger...

I have been so busy that I haven't had time to do the little things that mean the most, blogging, facials, time with friends, spinning, ug.

Jared & I have been looking for a new apartment. We wanted something bigger so that when we start our family, we would have space for the new addition.

We searched and scoured NYC, trying to find a larger apartment that wouldn't break the bank. Just when we gave up hope, our broker showed us heaven.

A large junior four, with a dining room, galley kitchen, walk in closet for me and one for Jared, and a balcony complete with a 550sq ft wrap around terrace. Gorgeous doorman building, pet friendly, large roof sun deck and full laundry room and parking!

The issue was that it is a co-op and the landlord was willing to rent it out, but we needed to go through extensive background checks, financial checks, recommendations and an interview with the board.

We found out yesterday, we got APPROVED!!!

Move in date is July 10th!

I cant wait to show you pictures of the new place, the new furniture we plan to buy and hopefully a lot more new things for 2011 to come!

Lately, life has gotten the best of me. I have not been inspired to post. I have not been able to tackle my many to do lists. I really wish I spent time cleaning my closet and putting my warmer clothes front and center. I wish that I got to ordering photos and putting them in albums. I also wish I started thinking about my 30th birthday blowout! I wish I spent the time to get a much needed mani and pedi. I wish I had more time to catch up with friends and make truly needed dinner plans! I need to make sure to congratulate a few good friends of mine that just got engaged! Ever feel like you need to catch up?

I am sorry for not being a better blogger.

I am going to spend the next hour catching up on all of your blogs!

New Addiction....

Its not like I don't already watch enough trashy TV,

one my besties had got me addicted to yet another show!

If you are pregnant, a mother or thinking of becoming one, you must watch Rosie Pope, the maternity concierge on Bravo Tuesday's at 10:00pm EST. I really do like her, except her accent plus speech impediment makes me hard to understand her sometimes. She handles these high power, rich Manhattan wives and anything and everything they need help with. One mother did not want to hold the baby because her arms were not strong enough, another interfaith couple wanted her help to decide the faith of their unborn child, and another needed a last minute preggo wedding gown!

It is definitely on my top to watch shows

Social Experiment

One of my dearest besties is doing a "social experiment"

She is deactivating her facebook account for one month. She is trying to erase her mind of new feeds, photo updates and status changes. She said the people she loves the most, she speaks to and knows what is going on in their lives out of a feed form.

She gave herself no rules. No deadline on when she can or when she has to reactivate.

But she will see, if this will soothe her soul and her mind

Although I met Thunder when he was only 3 years old, I feel that he now knows I am his mommy.

Yes, I am sure he loves daddy more, but still...

Every night we get into bed, Jared sleeps on the right and I sleep on the left

Thunder gets into bed and always crawls up on top of Jared.

Lately, I have been getting jealous. I insist that he only likes that side of the bed more, not Jared.

This is where the experiment comes in....

The other night I lay on Jared's side of the bed and Jared lays on mine

Thunder gets in, looks at Jared and crawls up onto me. HA.

Jared picks up Thunder, makes him smell him, pets him and puts him on top of him.

Thundy gets up, off of Jared and crawls back over to ME.

One more time, Jared takes Thunder off the bed entirely, has him jump back on to see where he goes

Where do you think he landed?

Back to me...

So my theory was he loves us BOTH the SAME

but

Loves the RIGHT SIDE of the bed just a bit MORE then both of us!

It just hit me...

I have 6 months until my 30th birthday (eek!)

But a lot of my friends are starting to turn and we are all starting to celebrate.

One of my nearest and dearest just had her surprise 30th birthday party.

Funny though how things change so much over the years, but some things stay the same.

Here is us all in the bathroom (yes, the bathroom) taking a group photo, when at age 21, we would have also went to the bathroom to take the same group photo.

Now, most of us are either married, engaged or living with our serious boyfriends, two of my best friends have children, three of us are dog owners, we all don't live in our childhood homes and we all are working women or full time mothers!

So although, our lives have changed, our friendship is the best part of what stays the same

When I was younger I wanted to be a lawyer.

As I grew up, I realized that the LSAT was not for me..

I realized that law school was not for me...

And I realized that taking the bar exam was definitely not for me...

(It may have helped that I dated 3 lawyers during the LSAT, law school and the bar exam, and that was punishment enough!)

I started out in Public Relations, then non-profit event management and into corporate hospitality where I am today.

I got a recovery package the other day...

In it, was this book from when I was a child. So I read through it, thinking how sweet, something to keep me occupied while I am mending.

Towards the end, I learn that this little girl also gets her appendix out. And all of the other girls start to get jealous and scream "Wah, Miss Clavel, I want my appendix out too"

So although, it hurts to laugh, I did.... because of how thoughtful my best friend peanut was to think of me in this way :)

Hospital woes......

Yesterday afternoon I was doubled over in pain

Jared insisted we go to the emergency room

After 7 hours of waiting and one CT scan later

I was told my appendix needed to come out

It's been almost 12 hours after my surgery

And I'm still not myself

Sleeping in the hospital, not being able to do the most simple thing on my own, and writhing in pain. I'm hoping I will be normal soon.

Thanks to all of my family, my best friend and her baby girl coming to visit me, all of the
warm wishes so much that my phone is almost dead, and the most amazing husband sitting by my side the whole way, I realize I couldn't be a luckier girl.

We have all been there.

I have deleted a few random requests, that lets face it, I really dont know them.

I have deleted, an ex boyfriend or two, because we are not friends, we are exes.

I have even deleted a girl that was a bitch to me before my wedding, because we are really not friends.

And on the other hand, we have all been there.

I have been deleted from an ex boyfriend or two, because they are exes.

I have been deleted by a an ex roommate (and blocked) because we are not friends

But today I was deleted by someone who WAS my friend and who WAS my bridesmaid.

Now, I ask you? What is the point of the facebook defriend? Is it to make a statement? Be spiteful? Not have to read about their personal life? Not get updates? Etc?

To Sell or NOT to Sell....

The Jet Blue Fiasco....

We were supposed to fly out last Monday to Miami to spend time with my new in laws and extended family. Because of the North Eastern blizzard , it was cancelled. We magically (after being on hold and doing Internet searches for 5 hours) found the last two seats aboard a flight leaving early Tuesday Morning.

We get to the airport around 6:30am expecting to leave at 7:45am. 8:45am rolls around and they make an announcement that they are waiting for the rest of the crew to arrive. OK. no biggie. I am currently engrossed in my new IPAD playing angry birds and bbming friends to notice. Another hour rolls by and another announcement is made. "They are in a limo on the way, sit tight". OK. Fine. Another hour rolls by and another announcement "The limo never showed, they are in a company shuttle. Shouldnt be long" OK, until another hour rolls by. "They are in the taxi line at JFK on their way to La Guardia, should be 15 minutes or so. Please stay close, and dont switch your flight"

The crowd is now grumbling, old ladies with fur coats are furious and babies are crying and even dogs are barking. I decide to call Jet Blue and see if I can get someone on the phone. After being on hold for about an hour, I get someone. On hold again for their supervisor for another 30 minutes, I finally get an answer.

There was NEVER a crew. They were over their legal limit of work hours, due to holiday travels and labor laws. So they are not coming if they cannot rest up.

Meanwhile, hubby is in the middle of this lynch mob, practically a ring leader. I relay this info to him and in the middle of the final announcement that they are still on their way, he breaks the news. "Listen up everyone, they are lying! My wife just spoke to someone and here is the truth". Dead silence rings through as he announces my news.

The crowd goes crazy.

They now have to call over three police officers in fear that something may happen. Around 1:30 pm (7.5 hours later) they cancel our flight.

Distraught and disgusted by Jet Blue and the lies and blasphemy, hubby makes some calls. Explains how upset we are that we didnt get a chance to see my sister in law who flew in from Costa Rica just to see us!

Little did we know, that they would offer us two round trip tickets to see her to remedy the situation!

At least one good thing came out of my holiday vacay mess!

With 2011 approaching, I am not going to make a list of resolutions. No matter what, life will always throw me a curve ball from time to time. It knows when I am riding high and wants to keep me balanced.

Being Jewish, I have always had to find something else to do on Christmas. I love going to see the houses all lit up on neighborhood blocks. I love seeing the tree in Rockefeller center. I also love singing Christmas songs! Even though you can find me having Chinese food on Christmas Eve and in the movie theatre on Christmas day, I have my own nontraditional traditions every year.

For one, I watch the same movies every Christmas time that do not include your usual "Its a Wonderful Life". Although you can see me catching 1/24 hours of "The Christmas Story", I am still very loyal to the following flicks.

I was getting ready to leave work yesterday and realized my wallet was missing.

Whether it was lost or stolen, its GONE.

My Epi Leather Louis Vuitton wallet out the door and all of my credit cards and all new and old forms of identification with it. New license ordered, credit cards cancelled and reordered, new wallet in the process of being purchased. Fine, easy, simple?

The one thing I cant replace is my faith in leaving my stuff unattended and the fact that something is missing in my heart from this first ever robbery....

Here's to hoping there are still some good people in NYC that would place my stolen wallet in a mailbox or in an envelope back to me...

Tis the season for holiday parties. I have been asked to a few this year. What is the right protocol for holiday parties?

The first party was thrown with all food and drinks included and served to us.

The second party was a pot luck where each of us decided what to bring and make

The third was a party where some food was provided but we were asked to bring some extra wine and a savory treat of our own

And the last party was a defined list of what to bring, that you MUST bring something from it

What would be your hosting style?

Twenty Minutes....

I heard a report this weekend about the value of twenty minutes.

It says to stay on facebook/twitter/blogger, etc. for no more than 20 minutes a day. This will help you get the maximum amount of networking and socializing without overdoing it. It will prevent stalking and other nervous habits that these sites tend to bring.

It says to take a nap for no more or no less than 20 minutes to recharge. Any less and you wont feel rested enough. Any more and you will be even more tired than before!

It says to eat any mean for 20 minutes. If you rush and eat the average and typical 9 minutes you are more likely to eat more than you should. If you stay at the table for longer than 20 minutes then you increase your chance at obesity.

What Subway Rider Are you?

Every morning I take the subway to work. Every evening I get back on and cram in to get home. Now that its getting colder, I am using the subway more and more as my main lines of transportation. I spend my time on the subway studying the latest fashion trends of NYC, checking out other diamond rings, and even eavesdropping on tidbits of juicy random gossip.

One thing I have noticed is that there is a defined type of subway rider each time I get on.

The one who MUST sit down

Even when the train is super packed, you have to find a seat. Even if that means pulling down the handicapped seat to sit, even if that would have meant 5 other riders could have fit in that corner instead.

The one who HOGS the pole

They need to grab on, so not only do they grip tight, but they reach over you (rudely) to hold on. They also lean across the entire center pole without noticing other little chilly hands trying to grab on as well.

The one who MUST squeeze on

They get on even when there is clearly no space. They push into the train and have a limb hanging out but ask all others to "move in"

The one who WONT ride it crowded

They simply, wait and wait and wait till the next train comes that has less people. Deadlines be damned!

I definitely find myself being a little bit of each type when I ride and I am in a rush...

How Far Has Reality TV Gone?

A new show started this Sunday called BRIDAL PLASTY. I thought being a recent bride, I would check it out. I am still pretty excited by Say Yes to the Dress, Four Weddings and even Bridezillas from time to time.

But this is TOO much.

These girls are competing for a dream wedding, but in order to get it, they must go through multiple plastic surgeries. Hello, Heidi Montag-Pratt anyone?

It seems to me that people will do anything nowadays to get on TV. Reality TV that is. Even go under the knife and risk your life just to win a dream wedding? I'd rather not. Although this show is mediocre in the entertainment field, it would not be something that any rational or sane bride should endure for any reason. If you need to risk your life for the perfect wedding, then you should reconsider what your idea of "perfection" is.

Every year we get closer to the holidays, I start to make massive idea lists on what to get Jared for Hannukah. He is literally the man who has EVERYTHING and wants nor needs NOTHING. I am at my wits end. I have already bought him a new winter coat, and cannot think of anything else to get him.

In the past, I have bought him Jets and Yankees tickets, clothing, winter boots, watches, wallets, sneakers, Yankees paraphernalia, video game systems and much, much more. He wants something tangible and something out of this world, yet I am stumped. TRULY.

This is where I need your help. Those who has husbands, boyfriends, loved ones, people with great gifting ideas, please help!

Early Bird Special....

Saturday night we went to dinner with my brother and his wife.

The reservation was for 10:00PM in a trendy neighborhood, downtown in Manhattan.

And that was apparently EARLY.

The one they originally had was 11:00pm. We sat at the bar from 9 - 10:00 and then had dinner until almost midnight. Maybe we are old, maybe I am not hip, but is this normal EVERYWHERE?

Or is just New York City that makes me feel like an 80-year old :)

Jared and I have been stalling on sending out Thank you cards from the wedding... (It helps that we don't get our professional shots for another 2 weeks, so how can a girl REALLY decide?) :)

I think it is because we cant wait to send out our HOLIDAY CARDS :) We love the fact that we get to dress up Thundy in something adorable, pose with him on our couch and then write love Mr. and Mrs. and Thunder. (All with the same last name of course!) In the past we have only done one photo card and it was a huge hit. We used a few different photos of us and still have it in our living room. This year we may just use one, very family style on the couch. I think its a great way to send seasons greetings and love to our family and friends! There are always really great photo websites that make it SUPER easy for your design something you love and something that you can treasure from years to come!

Honeymoon Part 2 - Maldives

After our 20 hours in Dubai, we flew 4 more hours to Male, the Maldives. There are 1900 islands, but only 900 are habitable. We then got picked up in a sea plane and arrived by boat to The Four Seasons - Landaa Giraavaru . We spent 5 days there and took another sea plane to the next Four Seasons - Kuda Huraa resort for the next 4 days.

This trip was simply AMAZING.

I was more relaxed then I had ever been. The people, the sights, our room, the food, was an experience all on its own. When I close my eyes, I am back in our suite.Ahhh...
